As you enter the second trimester, your bump is likely to start becoming more noticeable. And, with it, comparisons may also begin: “She is the same number of weeks and has a much bigger bump than me” or “Everyone says my bump is huge!”

There is no single bump size that all women should have at a given week. How your pregnancy becomes visible depends on several factors: your build, height, abdominal muscles, whether you have been pregnant before, and even the position of your uterus.

Fun fact

The size of your bump also doesn't simply tell us whether your baby is big or small. The best way to monitor proper development is by measuring the fundal height and through an ultrasound scan.

So, try not to use another pregnant woman's bump as a ruler to measure your own. Two women at exactly the same stage of pregnancy can have very different bumps, and this difference on its own doesn't tell us that anything is wrong.
