What cannot be missing from your plate
Pregnancy is much more than a period of growth for your baby. It is also a unique opportunity to look after your own health.

At The Family Door, we know that every contact with a family is an opportunity to promote healthier lifestyle habits. And pregnancy is one of those times when the motivation to make changes is usually higher. After all, when we think of our baby's well-being, we also start looking after ourselves better.
More than "eating for two", the important thing is eating better for both of you. A varied and balanced diet provides the nutrients needed for your baby's development and helps protect the mother's health during pregnancy and after birth.
Try to ensure your plate includes daily: vegetables and greens; a variety of fruit; whole grains; pulses; protein-rich foods, such as fish, eggs, meat or pulses; healthy fats, such as olive oil and nuts (when there are no contraindications).
You don't need to change everything overnight. Small changes, made consistently, can bring important benefits to the whole family.
Whenever you go shopping, take a few minutes to read food labels. Learning to identify products with less sugar, less salt and fewer ultra-processed foods is a habit that can benefit not only this pregnancy, but your whole family's health.
