Why do I feel pains similar to period pain?

If you have been feeling discomfort in your lower tummy, similar to period pain, you are not alone. This is one of the most common complaints during the first trimester and, in most situations, is part of the normal adaptations of pregnancy.

At this stage, your womb starts to grow and the ligaments and tissues supporting it adapt to make room for it.

At the same time, the increased blood flow to the pelvic area and hormonal changes can also contribute to this feeling of heaviness, tension or mild cramps.

Many women describe this feeling by saying: "It feels like my period is about to arrive at any moment." This is a very common comparison and, when there are no other warning signs, these mild pains are usually considered normal.
