Up until now, when we talked about the birth environment, we thought of the room, the light or the music. But there is something even more important: the people who are with you.

The presence of someone you trust can bring calmness, safety and confidence. A glance, a hand to hold, a word of encouragement or simply someone who respects your silence can help you feel protected during birth.

Your birth partner is not just there to watch the birth. They are part of the environment that surrounds you and can help you feel safer and more able to cope with each contraction. Healthcare professionals also play an essential role, creating a space of respect, privacy and trust.

The best environment for birth is not the most sophisticated one. It is the one where you feel safe, respected and supported.
